Over 70 areas of the hospital depend on dedicated volunteers for everything from patient and family support to clerical work. Our clinics in Bellevue and Federal Way depend on volunteers for help in the playroom or with clerical tasks and projects. Our center in Bothell for adults age 18 or older with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities relies on volunteers for classes and activities.

For young people interested in volunteering at Swedish Edmonds campus, we have our junior volunteer program. As a junior volunteer, you will be able to assist in the care and comfort of patients at the hospital, as well as learn about and experience possible careers in the health-care field. The Summer Teen Volunteer Program takes place June through August and is open to teenagers aged 16 through 18, who have not yet graduated from high school. Teenagers who participate in the program build leadership, teamwork and customer service skills and gain valuable exposure to the hospital environment in a nationally recognized academic medical center. Summer teen volunteers greet and direct visitors, transport patients, deliver specimens to the lab, deliver flowers and mail to patients, support the Information Desk, and assist staff with special projects.
All volunteer positions are non-clinical and placement is contingent on applicant interests and the needs of Swedish Medical Center. Animals enrich our lives. Denver Pet Partners enhances lives and promotes the human-animal bond through animal assisted patient visitation therapy at Swedish through trained Animal Assisted Therapy AAT handler teams.
