The Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. In the Twin Cities, Pride celebrations center around a series of events held around the end of June, culminating with two major events, the weekend-long Pride Festival, and the Pride Parade. During the weeks leading up to Pride, you can attend a number of related events and activities.
The celebration features a pride parade which draws crowds of nearlypeople. The progenitor to the Twin Cities Pride Parade was a person protest march in on the Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis, held on the third anniversary of the Stonewall riots. The name was changed to "Lesbian-Gay Pride" inbut changed back to "Gay Pride" the next year after an alternative Lesbian Pride event took place in Powderhorn Park.

Like all pride celebrations, its roots can be traced back to the infamous Stonewall riots of and the ripples of unrest and protest that spread across America in response. The annual parade along Hennepin Avenue in downtown Minneapolis starts at 11 a.
